Vietnamese automaker makes first appearance at Motor Show 2019

For the first time, Vietnamese automaker VinFast will display its line of automobiles at Vietnam Motor Show 2019 (VMS 2019), which kicks off in HCMC on October 23.

Officials expect 200,000 people to attend the automobile show.

Speaking at a press briefing to introduce VMS 2019 on September 10, officials said the expo will also display vehicles manufactured by Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

The five-day expo covers an area of 20,000 square meters and has indoor and outdoor exhibition areas.

VMS 2019 is expected to showcase the latest models and technologies of all segments and provide visitors with opportunities to test-drive cars. There will also be booths for accessories suppliers and firms active in the supporting industries to display their products and services.

Also, commercial banks including VietinBank, Citibank and VIB will join the exhibition to promote financing packages that are available to the public when purchasing automobiles.

Addressing the event, Toru Kinoshita, chairman of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), noted that the automotive market in Vietnam, alongside the stable development of the economy and the population growth, will further evolve in the coming months.

“With the developing local automobile market, car brands will strive to reform their products and diversify their models and services to meet the increasing demand for cars among Vietnamese customers, contributing to the growth of the local automobile industry in Vietnam,” Kinoshita said.

The annual automobile show, jointly organized by VAMA, the Vietnam Car Importers Association, CIS Vietnam Company and Le Bros Company, drew some 185,000 visitors last year.

This year’s expo will feature interactive technologies to provide visitors with digital experiences and help automobile manufacturers better understand customers’ needs.
