Upgraded Thaco KIA factory inaugurated

Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) on Saturday inaugurated the upgraded Thaco KIA factory at Tam Hiep Industrial Park in the central province of Quang Nam’s Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

CEO of Thaco Pham Van Tai said after seven months of studying, designing and upgrading, the factory has been completed with supervision and technical support from engineers and experts of South Korea’s Kia Motors Corporation.

The 20ha factory was upgraded in automation and digitalisation, increasing the capacity from 20,000 vehicles per year to 50,000 vehicles, with total investment of VND450 billion (US$19.3 million).

Tai said the factory will produce a full range of Kia passenger cars of the same quality as those made in South Korea. In particular, it will research and develop accessories meeting the unique requirements of customers.

On this occasion, Thaco also introduced the new Kia Soluto model with three versions AT Deluxe, MT Deluxe and MT, which was designed by German designer Peter Schreyer, who is Design Director of Kia Motors. The price ranges from VND399 million to VND455 million.
