Indonesia promotes economic ties with Vietnam

The Embassy of Indonesia in Hanoi, in coordination with the Indonesian Consulate General in HCMC, held the Bali & Beyond event at the Crescent Mall in HCMC from August 23 to 25, on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Participating in the event were 24 Indonesian companies operating in three main sectors: hospitality, travel and trade, including fashion and garments, jewelry, wine, coffee and chocolate.

Bali & Beyond is also an effort to boost the two countries’ total bilateral trade to US$10 billion in 2020.

Apart from the main exhibition, the event also featured an ecosystem presentation; the WOW Bali tour adventure; Seawalker, the Story of Bali; and Balinese dance and demos for the public to introduce the unique arts and culture of Indonesia to the Vietnamese people.

In his opening speech on August 23, Indonesian Ambassador in Vietnam Ibnu Hadi said he wished to strengthen trade between Indonesia and Vietnam, especially between HCMC and Bali.

The event was being held shortly after the launch of a direct flight between HCMC and Denpasar, which started in May.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Consul General of the United States, Singapore, Laos, Malaysia and representatives of Indonesian companies operating in Vietnam.
