Honda expects strong sales for new Winner X

Honda Vietnam has forecast strong sales of its latest motorbike product, the Winner X, with 140,000 units expected to be sold this year, equivalent to half its total sales of underbone motorbikes over the past three years.

Speaking at a press briefing to introduce the Winner X on July 14, a Honda Vietnam representative said that Honda had set the sales target as it believes the sporty look and other features of the latest underbone motorbike will satisfy the youth and the local underbone market.

In addition, the target was assigned based on a possible surge in demand for underbone vehicles in the coming period in the country, particularly among the youth.

Inspired from designs of sport bikes, the Winner X 2019 has an updated appearance and is equipped with an antilock braking system (ABS). It is viewed as a major competitor to Yamaha Vietnam’s Exciter.

The Honda Winner X will be officially put up for sale at Honda traders and dealers’ facilities nationwide from July 16, with prices ranging from VND46 million to VND49.5 million (including value-added tax). Buyers of the Winner X will enjoy a warranty of three years or 30,000 kilometers.

Commenting on the launch, motorbike traders said that the non-ABS version of the Winner X is more affordable for local buyers than the Yamaha Exciter, creating significant pressure on the rival. Meanwhile, the prices of other ABS versions of the Winner X are slightly higher than those of the Exciter.

To mark the launch, Honda Vietnam will offer an installment program with 0% interest to customers purchasing the Winner X from July 17 to September 30 at a starting price of VND280,000 per month with simple purchasing procedures on the presentation of their personal identification documents.

In April 2016, Honda’s first underbone model, the Winner 150, was rolled out in Vietnam. Sales of this locally assembled motorbike have reached 277,000 units to date.

Under its business plan for fiscal 2020, Honda Vietnam plans to launch 18 new models and versions of these vehicles on the local market.
