International exhibitions on telecom, film-TV begin in HCM City

The International Exhibition on Products and Technology of Telecommunication, IT and Communication (Vietnam ICT COMM) and the International Exhibition on Film and Television (Telefilm) opened in HCM City on June 6.

They have attracted over 450 exhibitors from 25 countries and territories, including Japan, South Korea, the US, Russia and Taiwan.

The products and services on display include broadcasting technologies, software solutions, cables, decoding technologies, 4G-LTE technologies for fast internet, big data, AI, IoT, TV, film technology 4.0, movie magic technologies and pre- and post-production services.

Vietnamese start-ups are also taking part in the exhibitions through the Ministry of Science and Technology’s support programmes.

In addition to exhibiting and introducing the latest products and services, the events will also include seminars chaired by leading Vietnamese and foreign experts on the latest trends, products and technologies in the fields.

The exhibitions have business connection services that will link up exhibitors with visitors seeking new products, agents, distributors and investment opportunities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said: “The exhibitions are not only a trade bridge that help create and maintain sustainable relationships between domestic and international enterprises, but also an important technology exchange forum for local and foreign firms in the telecommunications, information technology and TV and broadcasting sectors."

At ICT COMM 2019, 22 leading Taiwanese brands have brought 74 products that won the Taiwan Excellence awards including mobile devices app, technology solutions, wireless technologies, internet services, electronic products and services, broadcasting equipment, and network infrastructure.

More importantly, this year’s event saw a stronger presence of Taiwanese products in smart education and healthcare, which are growing fast in many developed countries.

Wu Chun-Tse, director of strategic marketing at the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said: “We are living in an era in which technology has become an indispensable part of human society and new technology breakthroughs are created every single day to better the lives of people around the world. Viet Nam ICT COMM is a wonderful opportunity for us to get closer to consumers and tech-lovers.”

At Telefilm 2019, 20 of Taiwanese leading studios have also brought their latest feature films and TV series on themes like family, politics, cartoon, travel, food and VR education, according to the Taiwan Drama Production Industry Federation.

The Taiwanese Ministry of Culture has come up with a strategy of "No boundary between local and international markets to display the vitality of our multiculturalism to the world”, a representative of the federation said.

Organised by Adpex JSC, the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation Development, Viet Nam Climate Innovation Centre, the Viet Nam Association for Information Processing, Vietnam Internet Association, and Viet Nam Digital Communication Association, the exhibitions will run until June 8 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre.
