Amazon to back 100 Vietnamese SMEs to tap int’l markets
Amazon Global Selling and Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) at the Ministry of Industry and Trade have jointly launched a program to select 100 local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that show potential for growth and support them in selling their products online.
The program, titled “Support Vietnamese SMEs to tap international markets via Amazon.com,” is aimed at helping local SMEs increase their export capacity by joining Amazon’s global ecommerce platform.
Shortlisted SMEs that meet product requirements regulated by Amazon will be given special support from the program organizer and consulting experts. The SMEs can take part in training workshops for selling products directly or through online channels, receive expert advice and receive discounts from local suppliers while using Amazon’s platform.
Also, the 100 selected firms can join the second phase of the program, which focuses on developing Vietnamese brands on the ecommerce platform.
A Vietrade representative explained that supporting local SMEs in shipping their products overseas is among the key targets of Vietrade. The agency is working hard with Amazon Global Selling to create more chances for local businesses to expand their operations to international markets.
As for Amazon, it aims to open up opportunities to back local SMEs through the program, encouraging them to export goods, particularly textiles and garments, footwear, handicrafts and daily essentials. Interested SMEs can register to join the program at https://amzn.to/vnsme.
Further, Vietrade and Amazon Global Selling will collaborate to launch multiple programs, starting in April, to prepare local firms with basic business knowledge to successfully export their products overseas through the Amazon platform.
