Trade ministry to inspect big firms

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) will conduct annual inspections on a number of State and private businesses in different sectors, including those involved in petroleum, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and multi-level marketing.

Minister Tran Tuan Anh signed the inspection plan for 2019. The ministry’s inspectors and related departments will inspect 245 business and business units including many big names.

MoIT inspectors will examine the Leather and Shoe Research Institute, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Viet Nam-Hungary Industrial University, Industrial and Construction College and Electric Power University.

Two enterprises on the list of administrative inspections are Viet Nam Industrial Construction Corporation (Vinaincon) and Ha Noi Alcohol, Beer and Beverage Company (Habeco).

At Habeco, inspectors will check if the company is abiding by provisions of the Law on Anti-Corruption, regulations for the management and use of State property and proper personnel organisation and settlement of complaints. The inspection is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.

Inspectors will also look at the Petrolimex Gas Corporation, PetroVietnam Northern Gas JSC and Power Generation Corporation 2.

The Viet Nam Competition Authority will check on consumer information protection practices, the provision of details on products and services, and the handling of customer complaints and warranty operations.

This list includes two big telecommunications groups, namely Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), as well as some lenders including Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank), Standard Chartered Bank Viet Nam and Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB). Consumer finance firm HD Saison Co Ltd will be inspected in the second and third quarter.

The Viet Nam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the ministry will inspect regulatory compliance in e-commerce at VHC Trading Co Ltd, located in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, and HCM City–based Recess Co Ltd, the operator of online channel Lazada.vn, in the second half of this year.

The ministry will also look at some multi-level marketing businesses such as Thien Su Viet Nam in the northern province of Hai Duong, New Image Viet Nam Company, World Viet Nam Company in Ha Noi and Morinda Viet Nam Company in HCM City.
