Son La strawberry and farm produce 2019 launched in Big C Ha Noi

Son La Province’s "Strawberry and Safe Agricultural Products 2019 Week” was launched on Friday at Big C Thang Long in Ha Noi.

This is the first time the fruit has been officially introduced and promoted as an important agricultural product of the province.

According to statistics from the Agriculture Department of Moc Chau District, strawberry plantations started 10 years ago and have expanded to 25 hectares, concentrated in Moc Chau, Van Ho and Mai Son with annual output of 331 tonnes.

Many imported varieties from Japan, South Korea, Australia and the US have grown healthily in the province, delivering fruits with quality comparable with imported products.

Visitors can enjoy fresh strawberries and processed products such as jam, candy, juice, syrup, cake and yogurt. The price at Big C is also 50 per cent lower than the market price at VND120,000 (US$5.17) per 500g.

Big C expects to sell at least one tonne of strawberries per day during the event.

Apart from strawberries, the province is also promoting other agricultural products including apples, oranges, passion fruit and tea. All of the products are certified with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

The event also witnessed the signing of co-operation agreements between Big C Vietnam and enterprises and co-operatives in Son La Province on the consumption of the province’s safe agricultural products at supermarket outlets.

The event will run until January 20.
