SCG posts nine-month sales revenue of $989m
SCG, a Thai-owned Southeast Asian conglomerate, reported third quarter revenue from sales of more than VND8.1 trillion (US$349 million), a year-on-year increase of 18 per cent.
The revenue mainly came from its chemicals business, the company said, adding that over the past nine months, its revenue from sales in Viet Nam stood at VND22.65 trillion ($989 million).
The LSP Petrochemicals Complex Project, SCG’s latest key venture, was progressing as planned, with engineering design, machinery and equipment procurement and site preparation for construction works already commenced. Located in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the $5.4 billion-project was slated for completion in 2023, SCG said in a statement.
With its passion for better community support, SCG has continued its journey on sporting development to support young Vietnamese footballers through the SCG Street Football competition in Ha Noi and HCM City which attracted more than 140 teams. The final will be held in the capital in November.
Late last week, SCG also opened a playground for Long Son 1 Primary School in Long Son Commune in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, following the first two playgrounds at the same location in 2017.
“At Long Son Commune – the home of our flagship petrochemical facility, SCG has worked closely with local authorities on several community projects, including these playgrounds,” Somchai Wangwattanapanich, senior vice president of SCG’s chemicals business, said.
“Our goal is to build a recreational space that is safe and joyful for the little pupils of this commune, to help them develop holistically through playing,” he said.
