Malaysia imposes temporary anti-dumping duties on VN’s gavalnised iron
Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has decided to impose temporary anti-dumping duties ranging from 3.33 per cent to 16.13 per cent on galvanised iron imported from Viet Nam and China.
The duties will be applied for no more than 120 days, and have been effective since November 8.
The move follows the completion of a preliminary anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of products from China and Viet Nam including flat rolled iron alloy products and non-alloy steel, zinc plated or coated products and those treated using a hot dip process.
MITI said it had found sufficient evidence to continue the investigation on the import of galvanised iron from these two countries, so the ministry will impose provisional anti-dumping duties guaranteed by a security equivalent to the amount of the dumping margins set in the preliminary determination.
On July 25, MITI initiated the investigation based on a petition filed by FIW Steel Sdn Bhd on behalf of the domestic galvanised iron industry.
FIW Steel alleged that imports of galvanised iron from China and Viet Nam are being dumped into Malaysia at a price much lower than their domestic selling price, damaging the domestic industry.
