Hun Sen to attend WEF on Asean
Caretaker Prime Minister Hun Sen will attend three days of meetings at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Asean in Hanoi next month, alongside seven other Southeast Asian heads of state, a WEF release said on Wednesday.
Held from September 11-13 in the Vietnamese capital, the meetings will centre on the theme Asean 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Justin Wood, a member of the WEF’s executive committee, said Southeast Asia is one of the world’s bright spots for economic growth, and that the presence of the heads of state show they are committed to ensuring the continuation of this trend.
“We are honoured to be welcoming this record delegation,” he said.
According to the WEF’s participant list, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien-Loong, Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend.
