An Giang Province exports rise by 7 per cent

An Giang has reported exports of US$455.9 million in the first seven months of this year, a rise of nearly 7 per cent year-on-year.

Exports of rice, a key product for the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province, topped 257,000 tonnes and fetched $130.4 million, up 27.4 per cent and 40.1 per cent, respectively.

China remains the top importer of the province’s rice, followed by Malaysia and the Philippines.

Frozen seafood exports declined marginally to 67,000 tonnes though it topped in terms of value at $161.1 million after increasing by 21.4 per cent.

Asian countries continued to be the biggest buyers of the province’s frozen tra fish, accounting for more than 50 per cent of its exports. Average prices of the product were up by $510 to $2,430 per tonne.

Exports of vegetables and fruits were down by 5 per cent in terms of both volume and value to 4,871 tonnes and $8 million.

Garment products, mainly apparel and bags, fetched the province $62.6 million, an increase of 17.6 per cent.

The province has taken many measures to help local enterprises expand their overseas markets such as offering solutions to their problems and providing market information.

It has also brought together enterprises and banks to help the former get credit and organised trade shows to help companies showcase their products and look for new business partners and markets.
