Singapore chain to sell slices at Aeon 2
Singapore-based pizza chain Pezzo Pizza will open its first store in Cambodia on May 30, becoming the Kingdom’s first restaurant to sell pizza by the slice, which the company’s executive expects to be popular with price-conscious consumers.
Operated by Star Food Enterprise Cambodia, the Pezzo Pizza’s capital store is located at Aeon Mall 2 complex and is set to open its doors on May 30, the first day the shopping centre is open to the public.
Chea Kimsong, executive director of Star Food Enterprise, said yesterday his 80-square-metre store will offer quality pies with a price of $2.5 per slice. Citing the affordability relative to other Western food outlets, he added that it is the first international pizza brand that will offer pizza by slice in the Kingdom.
“We will offer a new concept for selling pizza and we believe that everyone will be able to afford to try it,” he said. “Though we will sell by the slice, we will also target large volume sales.”
Asked for details on the criteria and financial terms of importing the Pezzo Pizza brand to Cambodia, Kimsong declined on Wednesday to disclose details of the agreement.
Pezzo Pizza has more than 120 stall outlets, mainly in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Aeon 2 Mall, on the outskirts of Tuol Kork, Phnom Penh, will have 70,500 square metres of retail space, and promises to provide 2,500 local jobs.
