International cafe show opens in HCM City

The Viet Nam International Cafe Show 2018 opened in HCM City on May 3, attracting more than 200 booths by 100 exhibitors and brands from 12 countries.

The event is one of the largest coffee shows of the year, with the presence of major coffee brands such as Trung Nguyen and King Coffee as well as popular coffee machine and accessories brands. Exhibitors are also displaying desserts, raw material and ingredients.

Domestic coffee growers and international entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to meet, cooperate and exchange their experiences to expand the scale of trade, promising both quantitative and qualitative growth of Vietnamese coffee.

Nguyen The Hung, vice director of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCM City, said, “Viet Nam International Cafe Show 2018 is a specialised exhibition in the coffee industry and also a great forum to exchange and gain experience and knowledge of the coffee sector.”

The event will also organise the final round of the Viet Nam National Barista Championship, the first coffee contest in Viet Nam, applying World Coffee Event standards. The winner will represent Viet Nam at the World Barista Championship to be held in Amsterdam in June.

Vietnam Signature Battle, a competition to promote innovative beverage and spirit recipes, will also make a comeback to the show.

The winner will receive a cash prize of US$5,000 and have the opportunity to join professional training courses as well as compete in World Signature Battle 2018 in Seoul, South Korea.

The cafe show will conclude on May 5 at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7.
