VietShrimp 2018 opens in Bac Lieu

VietShrimp 2018, the second fair on technology in the shrimp industry of Viet Nam, opened in Bac Lieu Province on April 27.

 

The fair is being held by the Viet Nam Fisheries Association, the General Department of Fisheries and the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu Province. Vietshrimp 2018 will run until April 29 with activities such as exhibitions, workshops and field trips.

VietShrimp 2018’s exhibition consists of 150 pavilions from more than 100 domestic and foreign enterprises introducing products such as animal feeds, bio products, medicine, technology, equipment and machinery for farming, processing and logistics services of the shrimp industry as well as the fisheries industry.

According to the organisers, the highlight of VietShrimp 2018 focuses on shrimp farming technology, along with sustainable development of the shrimp industry.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vu Van Tam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development said Viet Nam’s shrimp industry had developed for less than 20 years, but the nation is one of top producers of brackish water shrimp in the world. The industry gained $3.85 billion from shrimp exports in 2017.
