Russia wants to boost multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam

Russia is keen on fostering its collaboration in various areas with Vietnam, which the former regards as a promising market, a Russian official said at the Vietnam-Russia Business Forum in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

A number of Russian industrial products are expected to be exported to the Southeast Asian country, said Robert Kurilo, head of the Vietnam-based representative office of Russian Export Center – an institute run by the Russian government aimed at supporting its exporters.

He said the countries’ markets provide numerous opportunities for investment cooperation in diverse fields like logistics, biomedicine, laser technology, robot technology, production of medical and audio-visual devices, and surveillance equipment.

Kurilo also supposed that Russia, with its many beautiful and clean cities, is a potential tourism market for Vietnam.

Russia has favorable conditions in working with Vietnam in oil exploration and national defense, he said.

He added that the Southeast Asian country is completely able to increase its agricultural imports into Russia.

Many Russian produce export enterprises have high expectations of Vietnam’s demand for their high-quality food products, according to Gostevskikh Mikhail, CEO of Siberia Company.

Vietnam has different types of produce and seafood which Russia desires to buy – something that is conducive to the countries’ mutual commerce, he commented.

The nations have been trying to lift their two-way trade to US$10 billion by 2020.
