New fertiliser factory opens in Long An
The Binh Dien II Fertiliser Joint Stock Company last week inaugurated its fertiliser factory in the southern Long An Province’s Can Giuoc District.
The 3ha factory, capitalised at around VND320 billion (US$14 million) in the first phase, will provide 100,000 tonnes of products annually. The first phase’s construction started in July 2016 and completed at the end of last year.
The investor will put VND200 billion into the factory’s second phase so that it can produce between from 40,000 tonnes and 50,000 tonnes of nano-bio organic fertiliser each year, to promote safe and sustainable agricultural production.
Viet Nam exported more than 930,000 tonnes of fertiliser worth $263.6 million in 2017, up 25 per cent in volume and 26 per cent in value compared to 2016, according to the General Department of Customs.
Major markets of Viet Nam’s fertiliser were Cambodia, Malaysia and South Korea. Cambodia was the leading market buying 40 per cent of Viet Nam’s total fertiliser for export, or 380,000 tonnes worth $120 million, up 48 per cent in volume and 51 per cent in value over 2016.
