CapitaLand apartment catches fire, hundreds fled
An apartment on the eighth floor of CapitaLand’s Parc Spring apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 caught fire, sending hundreds of residents escaping from the building.
Late afternoon on April 1, smoke and fire was detected at an unoccupied eighth-floor apartment. The fire alarms went off accordingly, causing hundreds of people to panic.
District 2’s authority dispatched four fire trucks and dozens of fire fighters to the scene to put out the fire.
The fire is thought to have started from the apartment’s mattress and flammable furniture.
The residents said that the fire system of the building was checked on March 30. Accordingly, the fire alarm and other fire prevention equipment were in working order.
“On Saturday (March 31), we organised a fire drill for the residents, so they were well-coordinated and the fire was swiftly dealt with and the damage is very little,” said the representative of District 2’s police department.
The 2.9ha Parc Spring apartment building is CapitaLand’s project. The building has 18 floors and 397 apartments. The project is located on District 2’s Nguyen Duy Trinh Street.
