Angkor sees strong tourist growth in first quarter
Revenue from ticket sales to foreign visitors at Angkor Archaeological Park reached $39.6 million in the first quarter of this year, up 28 percent from the same period last year, according to the state-owned Angkor Enterprise.
From January to March, the temple complex attracted 858,580 foreign tourists, a 12 percent increase over the same period last year, the company said on Sunday.
The park's ticket fee was nearly doubled in February last year to $37 for a one-day visit, $62 for a three-day pass, and $72 for a week-long pass. Despite the raise, the park received 2.45 million foreign tourists last year, earning a record-high $108 million in revenue from ticket sales.
