Cambodia Property Awards honours country’s top architects, developers

The 3rd annual Cambodia Property Awards recognised the outstanding achievements of the country’s best and most active architects and property developers.

The 2018 Cambodia Property Awards were held last Friday at the Sofitel Phokeethra Hotel in Phnom Penh honouring the country’s best and most active architects and property developers.

The annual PropertyGuru awards, part of Asia’s biggest and most prestigious free-to-enter real estate awards program, evaluated over 60 residential, commercial and retail sectors projects in the Kingdom.

Sorn Seap, head of the competition’s evaluation committee, said an independent panel of five Cambodian and four foreign real estate experts spent four months reviewing the applicants to create a shortlist of nominees, arrange site visits and evaluation meetings, and come up with a final score. The judges carefully considered each nominee’s reputation, performance, innovation and achievements over the past 12 months.

Cambodian developer Borey Peng Houth Group clinched seven golden trophies and 10 commendations at this year’s awards ceremony, including recognition as the country’s Best Developer for the third year in a row.

“Borey Peng Huoth Group is in a league of its own as a relentless innovator in Cambodian real estate. Being the first developer in the country to utilise technology to promote its properties and to inform consumers, the group understands the power of positive word-of-mouth,” the judging panel noted. “For every project, whether residential, commercial or mixed-use, Borey Peng Huoth has earned praises from the industry, citing the quality of sustainable design, planning and execution, and site management.”

Other mixed-use developers recognised during the event included Japan’s Creed Group and China’s Li Xin Construction, which each took home three awards, and Phnom Penh City Center, with two awards.

The main category winners will go on to represent the Kingdom at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards in Bangkok, Thailand in November.

Seap said PropertyGuru’s annual Cambodia Property Awards promote healthy competition in the sector, which encourages innovation and excellence.

“This event can be regarded as an important message to all development project owners to make them understand which gaps they need to try harder to fill so that they can continue strengthening their company and succeed in upcoming competitions,” he said.
