Cho Tot reports strong performance in C2C e-commerce sector

C2C platform Cho Tot has recorded healthy performance after five years on the Vietnamese market.

Launched in 2012, Cho Tot is now the leading online classifieds marketplace in Vietnam with over 1.3 million visitors a day, 1.2 billion page views a month, and 3.3 million successful transactions via the site in 2017, according to the sellers’ statistics.

According to Bryan Teo, CEO of Cho Tot, 2017 has witnessed the positive growth of Cho Tot with an 11 per cent increase in the number of ads listed and a 34 per cent increase in successful transactions via the site. Meanwhile, after its launch in early 2017, Cho Tot Xe now has more than 260,000 users per day.

In 2018, besides online classifieds and vehicles, Cho Tot will invest in real estate and electronics. These are also the two prominent categories on Cho Tot with the number of ads in 2017 contributing 28 and 36 per cent to the total ads on the Cho Tot site.

Johan Rostoft, managing director of 701Search and vice president of Online Classifieds at Telenor Group (owner of Cho Tot), said, “Going forward, we will work to leverage insights from our other online classified companies in Southeast Asia to further strengthen and develop the Cho Tot brand. Telenor Group is all about connecting our customers to what matters most and Cho Tot is an increasingly important part of this story. Telenor will continue to invest in Cho Tot in 2018.”

Norwegian telecom provider Telenor is a major global telco with a strong presence in Asia. Telenor bought Cho Tot last year as part of its broad strategy to increase its footprint in Southeast Asia.

Cho Tot is the leading and by far the most effective marketplace to buy and sell goods in Vietnam, with a wide range of products, like electronics, home appliances, fashion, mother and baby products, vehicles, and real estate.
