Canon Vietnam's revenue rebounds after three years of falling

After facing on-year falls in 2014-2016, Japanese-invested Canon Vietnam's revenue rose by 19.2 per cent in 2017 to $1.76 billion.

Dao Thi Thu Huyen, senior manager of Canon Vietnam's General Director Office, made the statement at a recent meeting in the northern province of Bac Ninh. She added that her company was awarded as one of the most prestigious exporters for the eighth consecutive year.

The better business performance was partly attributed to the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, which encouraged employees, thus helping increase productivity.

After achieving the record high revenue of $1.86 billion in 2013, Canon Vietnam saw an on-year fall of 12.09 per cent to $1.636 billion in 2014 and then to $1.505 billion in 2015 and $1.48 billion in 2016.

Established in 2001, Canon Vietnam has so far invested $306.7 million in Vietnam. It specialises in producing multi- and single-function printers, scanners, and Laser beam printers for export.

Currently, the Japanese firm has three factories with a total workforce of 22,500 employees in the country.
