AkzoNobel Vietnam honoured in the Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam
AkzoNobel Vietnam has been named in the Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam in 2017 - the evidence of the company’s sustainable development efforts in Vietnam, not only in the matter of business, but also in the environmental and social aspects.
The programme on benchmarking and announcing sustainable businesses in Vietnam is the annual prestigious event that jointly hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), to honour 100 enterprises which are pioneers and gain achievements in the field of sustainable development.
To be selected into the ranking, the enterprises will be evaluated based on the Corporate Sustainable Index (CSI). This index was built as an effectively benchmark tool for the sustainability development of business based on three main elements: economic indicators, social indicators and the impacts on the environment.
Being the first time of participating in this programme, AkzoNobel Vietnam desires to enhance brand prestige, attract human resources that aim to contribute the sustainable development in the context of international economic integration today.
To demonstrate its commitments in sustainable development, AkzoNobel has been implementing a strategy of “Doing More with Less” to build a sustainable business with an aim of achieving 20 per cent of its revenue from sustainable solutions and minimise the carbon footprint by 25-30 per cent per tonne of sales by 2020.
In AkzoNobel’s plants around the world and in Vietnam, the policy of saving energy and clean water; recycling waste andusing plastic bags are strictly enforced, as well as require our suppliers to behave as sustainable as possible to contribute consolidative products and services to customers.
At AkzoNobel, all development researches start from depth understanding of demands of customers. In the business unit of powder coating, AkzoNobel products also bring great benefits to both the environment and customers.
Specifically, the raw materials that are used to make powder coating products do not contain organic solvents; it means that they do not emit any volatile organic compound to the environment, as well as reducing the risk of fire during the process of storage and application.
The unique production methodsallow products to immediately achieve an effective coating by only one coating layer; and the excess powder can still be reused without compromising the quality of the construction.
In addition, AkzoNobel has launched the "Carbon Credit" initiative to convert existing anti-fouling coatings to premium release paints that reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 9 per cent such as the products in the international coating line with AkzoNobel's Intersleek technology.
In 2017, AkzoNobel also be the leading pioneer in developing green architecture trend in Vietnam by introducing and providing consolidated solutions in term of products and services of Dulux Professional products portfolio for customers in channel project.
In parallel with business performance, AkzoNobel Vietnam also focuses on implementing meaningful community projects in Vietnam market through Human Cities Initiatives or Let’s Colour.
In continuation of the previous success of Human Cities Initiatives in 2017, Dulux brand has started to execute the project “AkzoNobel accompanies with students to school” that help to repaint 100 schools nationwide in three years, aiming to provide new spacious, clean and colorful learning environment to Vietnamese children and encourage them to study well, or assist painters in the implementation of environmental protection murals on Ly Son Island.
The total amount of paint that AkzoNobel Vietnam has supported for community activities in 2017 is 33,000 litres.
