WCG Holdings to invest $6.6b in resort project
W.C.G Worldwide Holdings Inc, a property developer from the UK, plans to spend GBP5 billion (US$6.6 billion) to build a resort area in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s Xuyen Moc District.
Speaking with local authorities at the provincial People’s Committee office on July 26 about the project, WCG executive president and CEO John Eric Wells said the 500ha project was designed to have retail malls, cinema, golf course and healthcare centre. It is expected to boost the country’s tourism, attracting a large number of tourists from around the world.
John said the project would also include seven-star luxury hotel suites, conference centres, marina and ski resorts, as well as luxury villas, safari parks, theatre and water park, in addition to a theme park and exclusive private yacht club.
WCG also plans to provide homes for old people in Viet Nam, especially the retired in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
At the meeting, deputy chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Long expressed his support for WCG’s project.
He said the project would be discussed by local leaders and a final decision would be made. If given the nod, the project would be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.
The W.C.G Worldwide Holdings Inc, which was established in 1943, focuses on investment in real estate, hotels, resorts and spas. The group currently has resorts in Long Dien District and Vung Tau City.
