Khánh Hòa: Investors interested in solar power projects

Investors have shown interest in the solar energy sector in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, with some 10 solar projects applying for investment licences in the province.

 

Three projects in the field have been approved, according to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.

One is a 70ha plant in Cam Thinh Dong Commune, Cam Ranh City, with capacity of 60MW. It is invested by the Song Giang Hydropower SJC at a total cost of more than VND2 trillion (US$88 million).

Another project of similar will be located in Thuy Ba and Tan An hamlets, Cam An Bac Commune, Cam Lan District. The 50MW project, covering 70ha, will break ground at the end of 2017 and be operational by the end of next year.

The last is a 10MW solar energy project in Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh City, which has total investment of more than VND400 billion ($17.6 million). It is expected to be capable of producing some 14.5 million KWh per year.

Khanh Hoa is also considering building a 100MW KN Van Ninh Solar Power Plant in Van Ninh District, with total investment of VND2.4 trillion ($105.6 million). If the project is approved by provincial authorities in principle, it will be assessed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade before submission to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Futrher, Hong Kong-based firm Jinko Solar has proposed a $75 million solar project in Cam An Bac and Cam An Nam communes.
