Lao enterprises urged to shine at ABA 2017

Small, medium and large enterprises are being urged to participate in the Asean Business Awards (ABA) 2017, which will be held on September 6 at Okada Manila, Paranaque City in the Philippines.

Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) in partnership with KPMG and GIZ on Monday held a press conference to announce the opening of entries for the Asean Business Awards Laos (ABA-Laos) 2017 and the Asean Business Awards (ABA) 2017.
ABA Laos will be open for applications from May 26 to August 15 with judges meeting to select the winners on August 28.
The national winners would then be competing with winners from other Asean countries, Vice President of LNCCI Mr Thanongsinh Kanlagna said.
He urged businesses to participate in the event as it was a good opportunity for Lao enterprises to compete with contemporaries from other countries.
“They may not only receive an award but will also learn how to improve themselves and how they can do better in competing with other companies in the region,” Mr Thanongsinh who is in charge of ABA Laos, said.
The Asean Business Advisory Council launched the Asean Business Awards in 2007 to give recognition to enterprises that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the Asean economy.
The ABA aims to recognise outstanding enterprises in the region. It brings to the spotlight businesses that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the Asean economy and have the potential to become global economic players in their respective industries.
This year, the awards will have the following categories: the Asean 12 Priority Integration Sectors Excellence Awards for fisheries, electronics, E-Asean/ICT, textiles, wood-based, rubber, agro-food, healthcare, tourism, automotive and retail; the SME Excellence Awards for growth, employment, innovation and corporate social responsibility; and the Special Awards for inclusive business, friends of Asean, young entrepreneur and woman entrepreneur.
Companies who participate in this event get to validate the quality of their business; gain access to free publicity; and network with potential clients, partners, or investors.
In short, joining the awards could bring more business to their business.
