Demands for senior managers in Vietnam remain high in Q1: survey

The recruitment demands for mid-level and senior managers in Vietnam continued to rise in the first quarter of this year, a recent study has highlighted.

The need for middle and senior-level personnel remained high in the period and has increased by 73 percent year-on-year, Navigos Search said on Monday, citing findings from its survey on Vietnam’s demands for senior managers within the first quarter of 2017.

These positions are most sought after by employers in the fields of manufacturing, information technology, consumer goods and retail, banking and finance, and business service, according to the survey.

Regarding the manufacturing industry, industrial construction and civil construction categories occupied largest portions, following by electricity and electronics.

Meanwhile, the highest demand in the consumer goods sector came from the segments of food and beverage, and fashion and cosmetics.

Aside from the continuously high demand for IT employees, a change in recruitment approach of employers in this sector was also recorded in the survey.

Many companies focused on their candidates’ English proficiency instead of prioritizing their technical skills like in the past, willing to offer extensional training on professional skills for those applicants with sufficient English fluency.

This issue has always been a challenge for international companies wanting to invest in the Vietnamese market as most IT engineers in the country still has limited English ability.

Navigos Search added in the reported that the highest salary in the first quarter was VND240 million (US$10,585) per month, belonging to a senior-level management position in real estate.

Middle and senior-level managers in such fields as manufacturing, trading, consumer goods, were also recorded with a rather high monthly payment, between VND100 million ($4,410) and 180 million ($7,939).

Navigos Search is a provider of executive search services in Vietnam with experienced and qualified consultants as well as a comprehensive database.
