Brewery supports business development

Private businesses are able to grow and supply rice to the Lao Brewery Co., Ltd. (LBC) each year, which benefits the brewery and growers alike while promoting growth and development.

It is government policy for the LBC to provide opportunities for local businesses to supply raw materials and services to the brewer.

President and CEO of the Carlsberg Group, Mr Cees 't Hart, along with senior officials from the Carlsberg Group and LBC on Tuesday visited Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr Somdy Duangdy.

The parties discussed their ongoing and future cooperation, with a view to developing and promoting more Lao businesses every year.

Mr Somdy said the Carlsberg Group continues to assist the Lao Brewery Company, which expands its operations every year.

He said the government welcomes discussions with foreign businesses interested in investing in Laos.

In April 2014, LBC agreed to buy 800 tonnes of khao kai noi rice from Xieng Khuang and Huaphan provinces to use in making its new Beerlao Gold beverage.

Mr Hart said the company hoped to continue its investment in Laos and that the country is an important market for the Carlsberg Group.

The Carlsberg Group's plan is to develop and upgrade officials' skills in order to further the company's development.

Staff at LBC will have the opportunity to work with the Carlsberg Group in overseas postings so that they gain new knowledge and skills which they can apply at the Lao Brewery Company on their return.

Each year, the Lao Brewery Company supports and offers sponsorship for various sporting events as well as charitable causes.
