Unitel stands by the Lao people

Well known asone of the best telecom operators in Laos, Star Telecom Company or Unitel has reaffirmed its commitment to carry outmore activities to return benefits to their customers and to raise money in support of the underprivileged.

The company revealed its plans after the Unitel Party Night Run concert at Lao-ITECC on October 30 to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of Star Telecom Company in the country.

With a purpose to make one different and creative event, Star Telecom has brought  the night run with colour and light decoration - the most popular trend of teenage around the world to Laos for the first time.

The fun evening featured activities such as the night run, body painting, photos, games and Unitel products to celebrate the special occasion.

A huge crowd enjoyed the night run and the concert which featured Lao and Thai stars, notablySack Cells, Namfon, Bie The Star', BaiToey and other popular singers.

During the concert, Unitelorganised other activities to support society by urging customers to raise funds to help the recent flood victims, as part of its corporate social responsibility.

In just two hours, the company raised 20 million kip from customers during the concert.All of the money will be distributed to help flood victims in Huaphan province through the Lao Red Cross.

The money was handed over during the concert in the presence of Deputy Director of Business Mr Nguyen Hoang Son and Vice President of the Lao Red Cross MrThongphachanhSonnasinh.

Regarding thereturn of benefits to its customers, the company's Deputy Director MrKongphetYongvongsiththi presented three motorbikes worth about 54 million kip to lucky draw winners.

The lucky winners were Mr Manna from Champassak province, MsPhetsamayPhilavanh from Savannakhet province, and MrLothsavanhXaypanya from Vientiane.

The company will also present other big prizes at an awards ceremony to be held at the end of this year, including a Toyota Vigo pick-up.

Star Telecom Company has extended its signal to cover 95 percent of the population over the past seven years. The company has more than 4,000 base stations and 24,000 km of fibre optic cable.

It has 22,500 agents across the country with around 2.3 million people using its network.
