Krungsri financial literacy Simple to Learn'

Equipping youths with financial discipline and money management skills.

The bright smiles and occasional bubbly laughter reflect children's happiness in Krungsri's CSR activities for elementary students. As learning is not limited to the classroom combined with the fact that financial know-how serves as the bedrock of a stable life, instilling financial knowledge in young people and helping them realize the importance of saving and spending are crucial for building a sustainable society. This is the inspiration for the Krungsri Financial Literacy' project.

The Krungsri Financial Literacy' project is a CSR project initiated by Krungsri Thailand in 2015 to help students learn how to save and spend prudently, including equipping them with financial discipline and money management skills from chil dhood.

Seeing that it is a programme which yields widespread benefits to young people and creates good financial discipline, Krungsri has continued this project in 2016 under the Simple to Learn' concept in order to establish a strong foundation for a stable life and, ultimately, a sustainable future. Krungsri Laos branches have adopted this good initiative to share financial knowledge with Lao youth, which is considered t o be the first time such a scheme has taken place outside Thailand.

The Krungsri Financial Literacy' Simple to Learn' project aims to teach basic finance to elementary students from Grade 4 to Grade 6. The easy course content focuses on game-based learning, which is engaging and fun for children. Games and activities are divided into 5 bases: Need vs Want, The Importance of Saving, Let's Shop Wisely, Recycling and Krungsri's Genius, including a base where the Bank teaches students how to deposit and withdraw money as well as the basics of interest ra tes.

The first school in Laos to be selected is Ban Arkard Primary in Arkard village, Sikhottabong district, Vientiane, where 50 students in elementary grades 4 and 5 participated. They had the chance to learn about financial management through these game-based learning activities.

Furthermore, Krungsri Laos branches are continuing their support to the Banking Institute under the Bank of the Lao PDR by providing scholarships for outstanding students in the third academic year. A scholarship handover ceremony was held recently at the Banking Institute and was attended by Mr Rohit Khanna, Head of the Corporate Strategy and Planning Group as well as the Director General of the Banking Institute, Ms Duangdy Phimvongsa.

Since social sustainability is based on good citizenship, Krungsri Laos branches are committed to help instil financial responsibility in promoting social development.
