‘Flag of convenience’ cancelled by ministry
Cambodia has terminated its “flag of convenience” system that allows ship-owners to register a vessel outside of its home country to avoid financial charges or regulations, state news agency AKP reported yesterday.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol announced that as of August 17 the Kingdom stopped issuing new certifications, while previously certified ships have until the end of the month to operate, it said.
