CLMV expected to attract 24 million tourists in 2016

The four countries that make up the CLMV region – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam – received a combined total of 10 million foreign tourists during the first five months of 2016 and are expected to top 24 million foreign visitors by the end of the year, a Cambodian tourism official said yesterday.

Heng Sochamroeun, deputy cabinet chief of the Tourist Ministry, said the region was expected to attract 28.5 million visitors in 2018.

Many tourists who visit one country in the CLMV region go on to visit another member of the group, something the governments of the four countries are working to encourage.
