Da Nang, Seoul plan public works information system

The central city, in co-operation with Seoul city of Korea, will commence work on an information system on public works construction, Allimi, in Da Nang from 2016 to 2019.

Vice Chairman of the city's People's Committee, Tran Van Mien said the system will help boost transparency and publicity as it allows local people to supervise public work construction and investment projects.

Mien said the Allimi system will help develop exchange between administrations of Da Nang and Seoul in trade, investment, culture as well as sharing experiences in public works management.

The system, which will launch the first stage between 2016 and 2018, and from 2018 to 2019 in the second phase, will aim to build up multi-management of all public investment projects and improve the anti-corruption capacity and effectiveness.

Vice Director of the city's construction department, Tran Van Nam said the system will connect with the city's E-government system to post online all information of public investment projects and construction schedule as well as receiving opinions from local people.

He said residents can access information of investment projects in the city in joining supervision on project construction processes.

According to the city, two-way trade turnover between Da Nang and Seoul reached US$87 million, of which $24 million was for exports from Da Nang to Korea, in 2015.

Korea is seen as the biggest investor in Da Nang with 56 projects worth $751 million.

In 2014, Da Nang launched the e-Government systems to provide a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), wireless internet, data centre and a centre for human training and research on IT applications.

The central city had provided 1,196 on-line administration procedures and 95 per cent of public servants can now work online.

The city has developed six IT centres and a software park in preparation for building Da Nang as a Smart city by 2020.
