Fuel prices go up

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade increased the retail price of fuels on May 20.

According to a ministerial decision sent to wholesale petrol businesses, the ceiling prices of RON 92 and E5 bio-fuel increased by VND243 and VND239 to close at VND15,829 (US$0.7) and VND15,315 per litre, respectively.

The price of diesel oil and kerosene went up VND277 and VND192 to become VND11,300 and VND9,647 per litre, respectively. The price of mazut rose VND290 to reach VND8,150 per kilogram.

In an effort to continue stabilising domestic fuel prices, the two ministries decided that the compensation for petrol dealers who incurred losses during fluctuations in world oil prices would remain unchanged.

Accordingly, dealers will receive an additional VND639 per litre of petrol, VND672 per litre of E5 bio-fuel and VND846 per litre of diesel oil, in addition to VND1,029 per litre of kerosene and VND323 per kilograme of mazut.

This was the second time the price of fuel has increased since early this month.
