Mystery Land: BKK1 jungle

This plot of land, located north of Street 294 between Norodom Boulevard and Street 51, may measure 100 metres by 20 metres, according to Google Maps.

The 2,000 square metre plot sits only 200 metres south of the Independence Monument and is fenced by a corrugated zinc wall.

The land has yet to be developed and could have been abandoned given it is occupied by trees and shrub.

The neighbours were reported as saying that the land once belonged to the family of the former minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Chan Sarun. However they could not confirm if this is still the case.

Based on CVEA's most recent land price estimates for different zones in Phnom Penh, the plot would be worth $4,500 to $5,000 per square metre.

Location BKK1, along Street 294
Size: 2,000 square metres
Owner: Unconfirmed
Value: $9 to $10 million
