WTC's Naga Mall over 50 percent complete
Construction of the Naga Mall, the first phase of the World Trade Centre (WTC) project by Lao International Development Co., Ltd. in Vientiane is now 60 percent complete.
The mall is expected to be open for shoppers in April 2017, after construction began last year, according to an official from Lao International Development Co., Ltd. The announcement was made last Friday during the official launch of a new function and event venue at the WTC site.
Naga Mall will have five floors including one underground, which will be able to park more than 2,000 vehicles.
The official said the WTC project was also building apartments as part of the second phase, which are expected to go on sale in October next year.
The project is hoping to create a centre of attention for both domestic and foreign investors.
The WTC project on a concession of 520,000 square metres is located on Khouvieng Road in the Nongchanh area.
An official said the project would eventually comprise a shopping centre, a commercial street, integrated food and beverage venues, apartments, a high-end business hotel, office buildings, and other facilities to serve both foreigners and local people.
According to a report from the Domestic Commerce Department of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Vientiane now has 26 shopping malls with nine open and 17 under construction. Five of these are registered for operation and 12 are yet to be registered.
