Quang Ninh firms a valued resource

Enterprises are a valuable resource of Quang Ninh, and improving their capacity will allow the province to raise its competitiveness, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Long said.

He made the statement at a meeting with local business leaders and representatives in the northern province on Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting, a representative of the BIM Group said the group faced obstacles in implementing its investment projects due to constant changes in the law, and said the province should establish an agency that provides investment consultancy to local enterprises.

Meanwhile, the AES Corporation, an investor of the Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Project, said it hoped the province would speed up its administrative procedures and continue to develop infrastructure and skilled human resources for the benefit of businesses.

The province had more than 1,100 newly registered businesses last year, raising the total number of enterprises operating in the locality to about 11,000, with a combined capital of VND127 trillion (US$5.7 billion).
