Binh Duong to host Smart City Summit

More than 500 industry leaders, Government officials, academics and business professionals will take part in a seminar on smart cities in the southern province of Binh Duong next week.

Jointly organized by the province administration and the Dutch consulate in HCM City, the summit will discuss how to tackle urban challenges, forge new partnerships, explore new ideas and share insights and expertise in developing smart cities.

On its sidelines will be an exhibition titled Smart City featuring live demonstrations by companies of smart city solutions.

A Smart City Hackathon will be organized, with 20 teams of designers competing to create the best smart city applications within 24 hours.

The hackathon will be held on March 26 and 27, with the winning teams presenting their solutions at the conference.

The Smart City Summit is an outcome of close co-operation between the Dutch city of Eindhoven and Binh Duong.

"In Holland, we have an airport in Amsterdam, a seaport in Rotterdam and a Brainport in Eindhoven" Simon van der Burg, the Netherlands's consul general in HCM City, said.

"In Eindhoven, the political leadership, the business community and knowledge institutes have been working together in making Eindhoven one of the smartest regions in the world."

Binh Duong boasts among the fastest economic and industrial growth rates in Viet Nam.

Its urban development objectives are aimed at making Binh Duong New City a green, clean and beautiful industrial city.
