Ha Noi's IIP rises 8.6% in two months

Ha Noi's industrial production index (IIP) rose 8.6 per cent in the first two months of 2016 year-on-year, according to statistics from the Hanoi Statistics Office.

Comparing to the two–month period of last year, the mining industry's index increased 0.5 per cent, the manufacturing and processing industry added 8.8 per cent, while the production and distribution of electricity rose 5.7 per cent.

Some of the industrial sectors that registered remarkable growth during the January – February period are food processing with 20.4 per cent, outfits with 36.2 per cent, metals with 33.1 per cent, and beds and wardrobes with 199.4 per cent.

In February only, the city's IIP fell by 27.6 per cent against January, but increased 6.1 per cent compared to February 2015.

According to experts from the Ha Noi Statistics Office, the IIP index declined due to the long Tet holiday.

Also, enterprises manufacturing products for Tet completed their production cycles, and therefore, the IIP fell from the previous month.

Forecasts made by the Ha Noi department of industry and trade show that the industrial production of the city this year will be better than in 2015.
