FPT voted Vietnamese firm with best corporate governance

FPT, a leading technology corporation in Vietnam, was named the company with the best corporate governance in the country by hundreds of company leaders and financial experts in Asia during an annual event held on Wednesday in Hong Kong.

The company was honored with the prestigious title at the eighth annual Corporate Governance Poll organized by Asiamoney, one of Asia’s leading financial publications, FPT said in a press release sent to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Thursday.

Beside the award, FPT was also selected by the attendees as the winner of four out of five important categories, including Best for Disclosure and Transparency, Best for Shareholders’ Rights and Equitable Treatment, Best for Responsibilities of the Management and the Board of Directors, and Best for Investor Relations in the Vietnamese context.

FPT has been named among the top businesses that have paid the highest dividend and ensure fairness and interests for their shareholders for nearly 10 years of being listed on the stock exchange, the company said in the press release.

The corporation has always been one of the firms that release their financial reports in the earliest manner.

Besides the minimum lawful requirements, FPT also went an extra mile to improve the corporate governance quality in accordance with international standards by appointing the world's leading experts in information technology and business administration as independent members of its board of directors.

The company has also been active in convening regular meetings with its partners and investors, as well as having its employees attend domestic and international investment conferences to approach new potential clients, FPT said, adding that it participated in 131 foreign investment funds in 2015 in a bid to promote its image internationally.

Established on September 13, 1988 to have IT and telecommunications as its core business sectors, FPT has provided services to 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam and has constantly expanded globally, with a current presence in 19 countries.

The firm has strived to provide clients with optimal technology services, products and solutions, while pioneering in new technology trends and helping to strengthen Vietnam’s position on the global technology map.

Corporate Government Poll is an annual event organized by Asiamoney magazine, which is a member of the Euromoney group and has specialized in publications about financial markets in Asia since 1989.

The eighth edition was attended by more than 350 company leaders, directors of investment funds, research directors and senior analysts of securities firms from 12 markets in the Asia Pacific, namely India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
