Sokha Hotel set to open second Siem Reap resort in September 2016

Sokha Hotels and Resorts, the hospitality arm of Sokimex Group, is expected to open their second resort in Siem Reap this September, the company said in a press release. Construction on the new development first began in May 2014.

Hang Vannak, director of revenue for Sokha Hotels and Resorts, said that construction has been running on schedule and that the September soft launch will provide guests with 224 rooms comprising suites and villas.

Located in the Angkor Cultural and Tourism complex, Sokha Siem Reap Resort will be within walking distance to a newly established Angkor Wat ticket booth.

“By being within the Angkor Cultural and Tourism complex, the resort is in a clean and fresh location apart from the local area,” he said.

In addition, Vannak said that the soft launch will also open the resort’s 1,200 square metre swimming pool, café, and spa to the public.

Once fully completed, the 23-hectare facility will house 776 rooms as well as a 2,200 square metre grand ballroom.

Vannak could not put a price tag on the development as he said construction is still ongoing and the costs have yet to be fully tallied.

According to the release, the latest development could hire more than 900 employees.

Sokha Hotels and Resorts was founded in 2004 by Okhna Sok Kong. The Sokha Siem Reap Resort will be the group’s fifth hotel development in Cambodia.
