Cambodian alumni to discuss development
The annual gathering of the Global Alumni Convention (GAC) will be held in Phnom Penh on January 29-30, marking the second time the event has been organised in the Kingdom, and will bring together Cambodian graduates who studied overseas, government officials and senior business leaders for a two-day meeting.
At a press conference to announce the launch of the convention yesterday, Mao Sreng, country director for IDP Education, the education service provider organising the event, said that the convention will give participants the opportunity to interact with government officials, industry leaders and civil society.
The event will also highlight the impact the alumni have had on human resource development in the country.
“I encourage all alumni in Cambodia to take this chance to build their networks and advance the journey they began with their choice to study overseas,” he said.
With an anticipated attendance of 500 participants, the two-day convention will have a networking reception on January 29, as well as the convention the next day, which will see Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron, Rural Development Minister Chea Sophara and the prime minister’s son, Hun Manet in attendance.
