Number of new firms rises in 2015

Nearly 95,000 new enterprises were registered in 2015, a 30 per cent year-on-year increase, the planning and investment ministry (MPI) said.

In December only, nearly 7,901 firms were set up, marking about 20 per cent rise when compared with the previous month.

According to the MPI, the revision of the enterprises law has led to the increase in the number of new firms.

From the time the enterprises law took effect till December 15, 47,000 new enterprises were established. In August this year, about 9,300 enterprises were established, 84 per cent higher than the same period last year.

However, the business activities of enterprises still faced many difficulties, MPI said. More than 62,700 firms resumed operations during the first 11 months of this year, a 21.4 per cent increase over the same period last year.
