Gas price hiked by VND16,000

The cooking gas price in HCM City has been hiked by VND16,000 (US$0.7) per 12kg canister from December 1.

The retail price of a 12kg cooking gas canister now ranges between VND308,000 (US$13.6) and VND310,000 ($13.7).

Gas firms attributed the price increase to the rising world gas price, which is $467.5 per tonne now, a surge of $52.5 per tonne in comparison with last month.

This is the third hike in a row of gas prices since early September, adding a total of VND43,500 ($1.9) to the price.

In early November, the cooking gas price was increased by VND17,000 ($0.75) per 12kg canister due to the rising global gas price.
