BOL officials, Cambodian bankers discuss bilateral ties

Senior officials from the Bank of the L ao PDR (BOL) and the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) met recently in Phnom Penh in a bid to enhance cooperation under the Memorandum of Unde rstanding (MoU) of the two central banks.

The bilater al meeting also allowed both sides to exchange information and views on recent economic and banking sector developments in both countries as well as promoting bilateral cooperati on in the banking sector.

BOL Governor Dr Somphao Phaysith led senior Lao banking officials to meet with his Cambodian counterpart Mr Chea Chanto, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia and other management boards of the NBC.

During the meeting, both central banks expressed their commitment to further enhancing and expanding bilateral cooperation in the years to come.

Officials from both sides also discussed the implementation of the foreign currency policy, the management of banks, the supervision of financial institutes as well as cooperating on the exchange of technical banking personnel.

The two sides als o updated each other on the economic climate and the growth of banking services in each country. Many issues were discussed toward the policies for foreign currencies, while solutions to inflationary pressures and other problems were also highlighted.
