Centara recognised at the Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards

Centara Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel group in Thailand, was recently recognised as “Best Resort of the Year 2015” at the Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s southern growth engine.

Following the successful inaugural Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) in 2014, the Organising Committee came up with the initiative again in 2015.

The MTAA awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the official opening ceremony and gala dinner of the International Travel Expo (ITE) HCMC, was attended by key tourism ministers from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.

These awards celebrate the brightest tourism stars in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam that help to instill a greater sense of pride and achievement for professionals and organisations, which serve as recognition for quality excellence in tourism and hospitality in the alliance countries.

ITE HCMC 2015 is the only national tourism event endorsed by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in the Kingdom of Thailand; the Ministry of Tourism in Cambodia; Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism in Lao PDR; and the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism in Myanmar.

Centara Hotels and Resorts is always working to find innovative ways to provide more environmentally-friendly and sustainable operational activities.

As part of the overall Centara values, there is a strong framework of sustainable initiatives that each property adheres to and which have been recognised by many achievements.

A noteworthy achievement recognising the sustainability initiatives is from EarthCheck, where Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi has received the prestigious Gold Certification, the first hotel property in Thailand.

Centara Hotels & Resorts operates an expansive network of 48 deluxe and first-class properties across Thailand, as well as 24 hotels and resorts in the Maldives, Vietnam, Bali, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Laos, Oman, Turkey and China.
