4 expos on metalworking, supporting industries open in HCM City
Four exhibitions - Business Alliance 2015 for Supporting Industry, METALEX Vietnam 2015, Electronics Assembly 2015, and Industrial Components and Subcontracting Vietnam 2015 -- opened in HCM City on October 8.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee, deputy managing director and general manager Viet Nam, Reed Tradex Co., Ltd., said, "Viet Nam is one of ASEAN's top production bases for auto parts, motorbike components, processing steel and so on."
To support this vibrant manufacturing hub, METALEX Vietnam with continue to be the global sourcing platform for over 500 brands from 25 countries, along with seven national pavilions, that are eager to showcase cutting edge technologies to meet high production standards and yield unmatched results, he said.
Organised by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in HCM City and the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City, the "Business Alliance for Supporting Industry 2015" is meant to connect Japanese parts buyers with Vietnamese sub-contractors.
Besides this alliance, parts makers from Thailand under the leadership of BOI Unit for Industrial Linkage Development will showcase industrial grade parts and components at the "Industrial Components and Subcontracting Vietnam."
Being held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre until October 10, the events also include many other activities like the Viet Nam Supporting Industries Forum, Engineer Master Class, Business Matchmaking Service, and the KomaTaisen Tournament.
HirotakaYasuzumi, chief representative of JETRO in HCM City, said the supply of industrial materials and sub-components by Vietnamese firms to Japanese businesses had increased significantly over the past four years to reach 33 per cent. But it remains low compared to 65 per cent in China and 55 per cent in Thailand.
More support from the Government and efforts from enterprises are needed to develop the supporting industry, he said.
