Toyota snaps up large land lease on outskirts of phnom penh

Toyota Cambodia will build a new facility on the outskirts of Phnom Penh to serve its customers and operations, the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ) said in a statement yesterday.

The Japanese auto brand distributor has leased 5.3 hectares of land in PPSEZ and will construct a showroom, office, warehouse and training centre. Construction is set to begin in early 2016 and be completed by the middle of the year.

“Cambodia’s economy is growing every year, and we want to take the opportunity to invest in the country now,” said Kong Nuon, chairman of Toyota Cambodia.

“Phnom Penh SEZ offers all the characteristics we are looking for, especially important economic advantages. The location is perfect and convenient for our customers.

” PPSEZ was established in 2006 and has nearly 80 tenants, of which the majority are Japanese companies.
