Korean electronics firm to construct spare-parts plant

The Haengsung Electronics Vietnam Co. will construct a US$100-million plant to manufacture electronic spare parts in the northern city of Hai Phong.

The company received an investment licence from the municipal People's Committee on Wednesday.

Covering 10ha in the Trang Due Industrial Zone, the plant is expected to begin operations in January 2017, providing 500 jobs to the local people. It will manufacture 4.77 million printed circuit boards (PCBs), 6.86 million PCBs for mobile phones and more than two million PCBs for home appliances.

Speaking at the licensing ceremony, Secretary of Hai Phong Party Committee Duong Anh Dien vowed that local authorities will create the most favourable conditions for the investor to implement the project as scheduled.

Haengsung Electronics Vietnam, a wholly-Korean owned company, will be the largest satellite factory supplying electronic spare parts for the LG electronics complex, which is also situated in the zone.
