Hungarian showroom opens door to business opportunities
The Hungarian National Trading House showroom officially opened last week in Vattnak village, Vientiane, as a facility connecting business and trade between Laos and Hungary.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Vilayvanh Phomkhe, Honorary Consul of the Lao PDR to Hungary, Dr Laszlo Varadi, Asia Sales Director of Hungarian National Trading House, Ms Mengyi Li, the President of Sahamit Company Limited, Mr Khuanchai Siphakanlaya, business operators and other guests.
The Hungarian National Trading House opened in Laos last year aiming to be a business link between Lao and Hungarian companies and boost trade and business between the two countries.
The showroom will provide more potential for connection as a variety of Hungarian goods and products are on display for local business people to discover opportunities.
Dr Laszlo Varadi said “Laos and Hungary have a good long term relationship. The human relationship is important to boost business and trade.”
Ms Mengyi Li said “As the economy in Laos is growing, Lao people are looking for higher quality products. European products have strong brand names and high quality. However, product prices in Hungary are lower than in other European countries so there is great potential.”
“We don't do a lot of trading yet but I'm sure that business will increase soon through our trading house and showroom,” she added.
The Hungarian National Trading House Cls (MNKH) was established in 2013 by the Hungarian government and Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As part of the new foreign trade strategy ‘Opening to the East', the Hungarian National Trading House seeks new markets and new opportunities for Hungarian companies.
The Hungarian National Trading House Cls supports the export of products and services of Hungarian companies.
The activities are built up by two main pillars - filtering the markets and searching for Hungarian companies whose goods and services are competitive in foreign markets while measuring market requirements through local trading houses.
Laos and Hungary have a long term relationship. Hungary has contributed to Lao development, especially through technical support, mainly in agriculture, for which the country has great expertise.
Many Lao people have studied in Hungary and recently the country has provided scholarships for Lao people with the number increasing this year.
